People with disabilities

Time4AlternativeCreativity in remote space (06.2021 – 07.2023, Erasmus+ Program, budget €255,000)

The objective of this project is to popularise cultural heritage and increase its presence in social life using remote tools. In the project, we also assume the expansion of potential target groups of cultural and creative sector institutions by making the world of art and culture more accessible to people with hearing and vision impairments.

Project implementation will allow of the use of the capabilities of remote tools and applications to expand the offer of these institutions and enable them to function online. The project also assumes that the representatives of cultural and creative sector institutions will become familiar with the specific needs and possibilities of people with sensory disabilities, and thus expand their potential target group.

The target groups of the project include:

  1. owners and employees of cultural and creative sector institutions – small local institutions such as art workshops, museums, etc.,
  2. entities supporting small and local institutions of culture and creative sector e.g. local government units which finance the activity of cultural and creative sector institutions, umbrella organisations associating/supporting the activity of local cultural and creative sector institutions e.g. non-governmental organisations, centres supporting local activity, local thematic networks, other entities/persons providing services to cultural and creative sector institutions, e.g. training companies, IT specialists, instructors, activity organisers.

The innovative character of the project concerns two aspects – the need to switch to remote working conditions in the case of cultural and creative sector institutions and the possibility of becoming familiar with the target group which so far has been of marginal importance for this type of institution, namely people with sensory disabilities.

Go for VET in Erasmus+ (03.2023 – 11.2024, co-funded by the European Union, Erasmus+ Program, budget €60,000)

Leader: Zespół Szkół Ponadpodstawowych nr 1 w Krotoszynie

The main objective of the project is to strengthen the potential of VET sector organizations to carry out professional internships abroad under Erasmus+ by developing and implementing new internship programs, along with recommendations and good practices in the field of including students with disabilities in mobility activities. Organizations from Poland, Cyprus, Greece and Finland participate in the project, and we intend to develop two results:
A) Internship programs for (minimum) monthly apprenticeships of foreign students of technical schools in the following professions: logistics technician, hotel technician, veterinary technician, photography and multimedia technician.
B) A set of recommendations, procedures and good practices in the field of including people with disabilities in the activities of foreign professional mobility.
We have planned four study visits in the project, which will be attended by all project partners. The first visit will take place at the end of June in Poland, in Wrocław and Krotoszyn. The second visit will take place to Larnaca, Cyprus in early October 2023. The third visit will be to Kuovola, Finland in January 2024, and the fourth will take place in Athens in mid-April 2024.

VET4ALL (12.2021 – 11.2023, co-funded by the European Union, Erasmus+ Program, budget €60,000)

The main goal of the project is to strengthen the sending, hosting and intermediary organizations in the implementation of vocational training activities involving students with disabilities from technical schools. The project will enable the development of 4 reports containing recommendations in the field of good practices / procedures / tools / behavior patterns supporting the participation of people with disabilities in the VET sector. The project will strengthen the partners.

The project will produce 4 material results – reports. They will cover issues related to: including people with disabilities in vocational education, supporting teachers supervising VET groups including people with disabilities, adapting procedures used in vocational mobility projects in terms of easier participation of people with disabilities, adapting activities carried out in hosting organizations in which internships are carried out by (among others) people with disabilities.

Project partners meeting 7-10 November 2022

All partners in strategic partnership VET4ALL had another opportunity to develop results regarding supporting people with disability in VET sector. This time, an international meeting took place in a lovely city of Wroclaw in Poland during 7-10.11.2022. Or work was focused on hosting organisations. We discussed how we can improve the process of inclusion when it comes to organizing VET mobilities, what materials we can offer to the companies to support this process and how we can improve the experience of Erasmus+ trainees. We get a lot of insights from managers, researchers and from visits to various organisations working with people with disability. Best examples will be published in our report soon! Persons with sensory disabilities as a target group for the tourism industry – exchange of good practices

This project is an example of a strategic partnership supporting the exchange of good practices. The aim of this project is to develop satisfactory solutions in the field of professional preparation of tourism organisations to provide services for sensory disabled people (hearing-impaired, deaf, visually impaired and blind people) by the exchange of good practices. What is agreed by both interested parties, the representatives of tourism industry and the people with sensory disabilities, there is no special touristic offer addressed to people with such disabilities. It is because of two main reasons: insufficient knowledge in terms of such peoples’ needs and expectations, and their lack of interest in touristic services. The latter one is a result of the group’s separateness (especially people with hearing loss) and the offer not being adjusted to their needs.

Deaf Work. The model of increasing access to employment for the Deaf – (06.2016 – 11.2018, European Social Fund, budget €450,000)

Transnational cooperation project implemented in partnership with Fortbildungsakademie der Wirtschaft (FAW) gemeinnützige Gesellschaft mbH Akademie (Chemnitz, Germany) and Polish Association of the Deaf, Branch in Łódź. The aim of the project was to develop, test and implement new solutions in the area of increasing access to employment for deaf and hard of hearing people. A comprehensive DEAF WORK Model was developed. 

Increasing Social Activity of People with Intellectual Disabilities – Exchange of Experiences(09.2017 – 11.2018, Erasmus+ Programme, budget €40,000)
The project is an example of a strategic partnership of stakeholders which is directed at exchanging best practices. The main mission of the partnership is to enhance the effectiveness of the stakeholders’ actions to support the intellectually-disabled. For the mission to be completed it is necessary to exchange and discuss ideas, practices and methods for improving social activation (as well as for improving occupational activation in cases where it is reasonable from a medical point of view). On the one hand, the project is a chance to promote best practices in the social activation of people with intellectual disabilities. On the other, it allows to further increase the awareness of disabled persons’ needs.

Go4Diversity (Poland) – (10.2018 – 06.2021, European Social Fund, budget €200,000)

A transnational cooperation project implemented in partnership with the University of Ghent (Belgium) and with a non-governmental organization from the Värmland Region (Sweden). The goal of the project is to develop, test and implement new effective solutions that increase the motivation of employers to employ people with disabilities. The project assumed extensive primary research regarding the perception of people with disabilities in the labour market, experiences of cooperation with a disabled employee-employer, employers’ attitude to employing people with disabilities and related fears and needs. The effect of the work will be a Go4Diversity model solution consisting of six parts: 1. Guidebook for employers, describing the types of disability and indicating what is needed (how to prepare a workplace) to hire people with disabilities, 2. Guide for co-workers of people with disabilities 3. Good practices about professionally active people with disabilities, 4. A series of one-day practical trainings for potential employers and co-workers who will be able to feel like people with disabilities, 5. Training for people supporting people with disabilities in the workplace, 6. Film – the concept of a campaign for the employment of people with disabilities.

Development of teaching materials for vocational training of deaf people in the HORECA sector – (09.2016 – 08.2019, Erasmus+ Programme, budget €280,000)

A strategic partnership project in the area of vocational education implemented jointly with an association supporting deaf Munka-Kör Alapítvány and Hallássérültekért (Hungary), a non-governmental organization the Institute of Citizens’ Sustainable Development and Health (Greece) and B & D Hotels SA, HP Hotel Park Plaza from Wroclaw. The aim of the project is to improve the quality and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of activities for the vocational training of deaf and hard-of-hearing people in the hotel and catering industry (HORECA). The project resulted in developing three effects that directly refer to the project’s purpose. These are: 

  • The concept of training for a deaf employee in 10 occupations in the HORECA industry: barista, bartender, waiter, cook, confectioner, baker, porter, room / maid, gardener, conservator. 
  • The thematic dictionary for the 10 professions specified in the previous result. 
  • Deaf at work – Vademecum for employers in the HORECA industry, which contains the most important issues relating to the employment of deaf people. 

Most of the results were created in 4 language versions: Polish, Greek, Hungarian and English.

Let’s try to understand (01.2012 – 12.2014, European Social Fund, budget 600,000)

An innovative project dedicated to the development of effective solutions in the area of professional and social activation of deaf and hard of hearing people. The final product of the project was the development and test implementation of an innovative package „Activity without barriers” consisting of: 1. Traditional training programs in PJM (Polish Sign Language) „Polish as a foreign language” and „Social activity”. 2. Programs of 10 e-learning trainings in PJM that raise the professional competences and key competences of people with hearing impairment 3. PJM training program for trainers. 4. Training program for employees of labour market institutions and employers who employ / want to employ deaf people. 5. A guide for a disabled people trainer. 6. PJM dictionary in the form of a DVD recording. 7. The concept of the portal for the deaf people with vocational courses and information about the socio-economic situation and the situation on the labour market. 8. Model of cooperation between public and non-public labour market institutions in the field of support for deaf people.

Enable – Workable – (07.2013 – 11.2014, European Social Fund, budget €120,000).

Project in international partnership with the INSPIRE Foundation from Malta dedicated to the development of effective solutions in the field of real support for people with disabilities. The implementation of the project involved the development of effective solutions in the area of raising the knowledge and competences of people who may meet people with disabilities in the labour market. The main target groups of the project were employees of employment and social integration services, as well as employers. We have developed our solutions by getting to know and adapting good European practices, especially solutions used by the Maltese project partner, the main organization in Malta providing services in the field of supporting the integration of people with disabilities in the work environment.

A better start on the labour market for youth with sight dysfunction – (11.2009 – 10.2011, European Social Fund, budget 120,000).

Project implemented in partnership with the Special Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Children. The project aimed to implement the Center’s development program. The assumption of the project was to create effective forms of youth activation, to strengthen the sense of self-esteem and openness in contacts between people, to help in overcoming difficulties and overcoming barriers.
